Mailbag for Monday, May 15 2000

The main focus this week was the EB64 petition, which is now on SM.net right now for you dudlings. There's more random stuff too!

We're Very Old

Whats wrong with NOA??? Not releasing EB64! Its an insult to everyone here!! This is the coolest EB site and weve waited over 83,269,043,265,320,650,326 years!! All they have to do is translate it, and I know a LOT of people who are going to buy it if it comes out.

So the petition, and seige WILL work, once NOA sees how many people want EB64, theyll release it as soon as they can. We have to get at LEAST 50,000 sigs tho (yeah I know, a lot, but theres still alot more thats played EB) before NOA will even THINK of releasing EB64... so everyone... sign the petetion!!

Letter VOLUME

EarthBound64 is a game we all have been waiting for for a LONG time. And the release of it in Japan is a very good sign that it is coming to America. When we get NO response from NoA and see that they're ignoring us it's obvious that there is one thing we have to do. Make up 50 fake alias's. And mail 50 letters each to NoA. How about this, 200 people send 50 letters. That's 10,000 letters. Now even though they'll realize that 50 of each letter has the same return address they'll see what we need. You don't need petitions, you need VOLUME! Ok I'm done ranting. Time to make up more names... "No, Bob Cheese isn't good... what about Mary Bologna? Oh forget it!"

Yes, it is true, NP Siege hasn't made its impact on NP/NOA yet. But soon, they will discover a post office full of letters with bom- um... you don't need to know that. Heh.

A petition could be useful, I mean, look at the game "Orge Battle" that was known not to be released for US, but a bunch of people got together and wrote a huge petition and send it out to NOA and boom, they're working on it! We could do the same thing, but most EBers might abuse the petition by repeatly putting down their name in the petition, which is a lot of work for our hard-working Czar (j/k). But, yeah, it does seem like a good idea to me. Even though we don't want to do it, because of our recent failure with NOA for Mother 1. (For those who don't know what I meant, I meant that Reidman and Tomato sent out a petition demanding Mother 1 to be released for GBC, but NOA mistaken it for EarthBound. Those unworthy foos(NOA, not Reid and Tomato) will pay for the hard work of Reid and the Big Red Guy.

If the petition fails, then many impatient EBers will stand up and cry out and then attack NOA with full force, demanding for EB64. Oh yes, that reminds me, don't do that! That's not really funny to me. If you decide to do something like that, NOA will look at it as a joke and delay it for further amusement. Trust me, they would do that.

Now... where should I put this hammock? Should I put on the tree or above the bed of nails? Decision, decision.

-Rockwell

First of all, I'm pretty sure NOA new we were talking about Mother 1. However, when some e-mails, and regular letters were sent to NOA concerning the issue, some of the NOA staff thought we were talking about the regular EarthBound. Also, you're right about the immature replies to the petition. The whole staff is working on the petition, and we've developed a nice system that will hopefully tone down on the lame letters. But it IS still more work for all of us. So, when you write your little response on the petition, make sure it's to the point and written in a mature manner. You're representing a part of the EB Community. Make us look good!

EB 64 and Brain Cells

NP Siege is not enough. A million postcards would not sway Nintendo's decision. They simply insist on milking Poke'crap until it dies. They'll just delay it for more Poke'crap. As for me, I refuse to buy any more N64 games until Nintendo gets a few brain cells and releases EB64.

Local Petition

I think that the petition should be signed by more than the current earthbounders, even if it is a video game. WE SHOULD GET PETITIONS GOING AROUND LOCALLY, and combine all of the signatures onto one list. That'd get Big Brother's attention!!

You're right with the idea that not only EBers should sign it. If you know a hardcore gamer, or someone who loves RPGs, tell them about the petition. I'm sure they'll sign it, and they might actually be interested in the series. But don't tell Fat Bob your neighbor...unless he likes games or something.

Galloping Galloofuses!

Nothing has an impact on Nintendo. Isn't their slogan 'Built like a Rock?' Nintendo isn't into change. They have changed their product boxes in over 300 years when Japan shut itself off from the outside world and from all those nasty European Sailors and traders.

Ebounding, sending in one billion letters saying we love EarthBound won't change anything, why? Because Gaming companies don't make money by making games all us game geeks like. No, it gorges gallons of good gaping dough from galloping galloofuses. That's right, we have the EarthBound and the Gambling houses, and those are the best things to have, but Pokemon and eye candy are the things of the future!

Hate to say it, but Final Fantasy is Cheesy, soo cheesey. Actually I am probably just being spiteful, but if you think on it with great consideration, Final Fantasy 8 and 7 got some WEIRD stuff. In 7, there' a weapon the size of an entire city that fires energy(Mako), yet when it fired Materia it was 1/5 that size. But, IT'S A GAME! So's EarthBound. And since it has been delayed 5 years I've grown up. But I remember how much I loved the original as a child, and so I feel EarthBound will be the LAST RPG I play, and no matter what I will remember EarthBound to be one of my Favorite games. I am tired of all the new systems coming out, I'm growing up and I'm poor. Need to pay for college... need to buy insurance, used cars, must click ad at bottom of page. [lighter font] (hint, hint, nudge, nudge, know what I mean? say nay more!)

Naw, that's Chevy's slogan. Anyway, I never thought I'd be this old, and EB 64 still wouldn't be out. I never even expected to like the game this long. How very odd...anyway, we plan on letting many gaming sites know about our little petition here. But other magazines sounds interesting as well. We haven't touched on that yet. Maybe we will. Thanks.

Politeness

I think the NP Siege might work. Maybe, if we bombard Nintendo with enough letters, they will definetley release it because they have so much dedicated fans. But, right now, you guys are flaming them like there's no tommorow. C'mon, be a little more polite.

-Starman Kyle

Yes, be polite. Saying you want to bomb them is sorta ok for the mailbag and stuff, but please be as polite as possible if you try to contact them.

It's a mystery.

Huh? What? Hmmm... I don't get it! On the 'Characters/Sketches' screen, site address: www.starmen.net/mother3/screenshots/index.shtml the first picture of EB64 is of a kid that looks (and dresses) like Ness. But on 'Mother 3 at Nintendo Spaceworld '99, site address: www.starmen.net/mother3/spaceworld it shows the main characters to be Ryuka, Krause, Flint and Boney. HUH? But I saw Ness! Please tell me Ness is, or one of the main characters. Why would they put Ness in the game if he wasn't the main character? If he isn't, could you maybe, kinda, sorta, make another petition for Ness being the main character? If you don't have time, it's ok, I'll understand, but I won't be happy about it! Please write back, ASAP. This is very important to me!

From Ness

Well the answer to your question (like most questions about EB64) is , Nobody knows. At least not for sure. That picture of "Ness" (assuming that's him) was a very early picture when the game was first in development. He could have been canned from the game for all we know. We will have to wait a few more months to know for sure.

Rebellion letter #1

Well, I think the petition isn't enough. Here's my plan for getting EB64.

First, we should storm Canada and find out wherever the heck they're storing all those missiles. I KNOW they have them somewhere, probably in the Yukon Territory where no one would bother to look. Then, we launch strategic airstrikes against Johannesburg, South Africa, just to make sure the missiles are working (can't be too sure about Canadian products).

Then we start bombing raids against NOA headquarters in Redmond, Washington, since they're too busy with Pokémon to worry about antiaircraft cannons. Then after that, we should submit at least 600,000 copies of the petition with the help of our bomber planes (which presumably Canada has also).

Anyway, the real reason I'm writing is because I wanted to ask about this urinary disorder I have. The doctor says it's very rare... well, I can't really go into details, but should I go with the surgery or the medication?

I've gotten a lot of letters suggesting the bombing of NOA. But I don't think they were this elaborate.

Space for Pokemon Again

Ebounding, in a letter that asks if the EB community discriminated against pokemon, you gave us a link that leads to the terrible and un-spiffy story of EB meets pokemon. I noticed (to my suprise) that low and behond, this strange mixed up soup of death (sorry, couldn't help myself} is writen by the all aroud super genuise, Ebounding!!! Is this a cruel joke or an evil framing plot to make it seem as though you wrote a story that literaly(not really) makes the reader keel over and Die ??? If not, then you are framing yourself of being a "stupid kid", as said by you, o master and all around reader of my humble letter. If you care for my sanity and ability to control idiotic and infinite amount of rambling posts on EB forums(just joking on last one) you will heed this letter and answer my one question, did you write that, and if, why.

From,
Ragnor, the norse god

I got a few more letters concerning Pokemon, and that story. So I'll just say what I have to say now. First, I personally don't have anything against Pokemon. Like all things, it's fun to make jest of sometimes. And yes, I made that story. I was being semi-sarcastic when I was talking about the stupid kid (ME).

- EBounding

And now for Something Completely Different:

Mosquitos are the most dangerous when they're half dead!

Keep up the good work guys! (';

Hey, wait a second.... you wrote that Pokemon Fanfic!

I am tired of being tired.
