I have to rush today, so I'll get to the point. Today's topics include the Text Dump, EB petition, and other various Mailbag type things.

Magical, and Mysterious Things
According to one of Tomatos hacks, they must've dropped some ideas... Magic Buttefly has 16 hp?? Maybe... a slim chance, but what if theres more to Earthbound than we thought. There still might be some unexplored area, I doubt it though, but you still never know.

Yes. I think Tomato is decoding the Meaning of Life as we speak. It's a stroke of luck that it happened to be in EarthBound.

"It's a letter about Nothing"
Right now, I'm sitting at my computer with nothing to do, so I decided, "What the hey, I'll send something to the Mailbag."
I jumped into action and wildly clicked on the link. My heart was beating faster than it ever had as I quickly read through this week's (or last's weeks, depending on when this gets printed) and used my special mouse with a scrolling button to work my way up to the Letter entry section.
My thoughts were in chaos as I decided what knowledge I would impart unto the world. I clicked on the entry field, and have been describing everything.
Suddenly, I realize that I haven't really said anything yet. So here is my little piece of knowledge that will make the world a better place.
Castro sucks. Down with Sony. Up with Nintendo and EB64.
Well, that's my bit of knowledge, now exscuse me while I get the rest of my medicine.

Text Dump, EB 64, Music, MORE
About the text dump, I found a few interesting tidbits. Aparantly Tracy says something different if you go to her personally to retrieve a special item (ie soundstone?). Oh, what is the Teleportation box...or something. Was that an experimant Tomato was conducting? Anyway, I think that Tomato slicing the code to chane enemy names is wicked cool. He should write a program that lets you rename Giygas and Pokey b/c I know you said before that it would be cool if you could name the enemies, and I agree.
Of subject, do the ruler and protractor have ANY function? I need a serious answer.
I realized something very strange about Earthbound. A LOT of the characters change their messages at weird points. Did you know at a certain point in the game, Twoson has no newspaper delivered, the bell boy says "there is no paper today" after saying he'll read the headline. Summers is the only town where the paper only changes twice. Onett has a pretty strange cover story in the late game. tomato's text dump is hard to follow. I hope he gets it cleaned up soon. I'd do it, but he didn't ask me too. I think it is real cruddy that EB64 is starting to fade a bit. I really don't get it. EB64 HAS to be an awsome game, I just know it. People like EB because it is cool. It's really strange, there is a lot of fun little stuff hidden in that game. The Hint man says some neat stuff, etc. I am going off here.
About the EB music: EB is just a strange game. That cave in the lost underworld hurts my brain. If you really think about it, the creators of the game held nothing back, the plot is subtle, but the fact that it is so open gets people to write crazy theories. Games like Final Fantasy are very concrete with the story laid before you. EarthBound, though, lets you imagine some of it, what is Giygas REALLY? Fighting Giygas made me nervous when I was little. Anyway, all summed up EarthBound is a classic work

You've covered the past 3 weeks topics. Good work. And I feel that the ruler and protractor is one of the top mysteries in EarthBound. I'm not sure if they do anything in combat, but I'm pretty sure you need them to repair the Broken Antenna. Maybe the HELPLINE can help you with questions such as that. You'll at least get a reply in 24 hours, if not an answer.

Coincidence?
I feel so special you used something I said. Even though my nick wasn't mentioned...
But anyway, isn't it a little hypocritiacal. ROMs were so hush, hush in #eb, but the second one of the big people started doing stuff with them, it is an open topic. Strange.
It's also strange that, although it's allowed now, there doesn't seem to be any more ROM talk than there was when it wasn't allowed...
On a completely different note, I'm going to Canada's Wonderland tomorrow on a band trip. I will go in Cliffhanger, even though they put it in the strangest place.

ROMs were "hush hush" on everything SM.net related (not just the chatroom in otherwords). I personally think it wasn't that necessary, but what're you gonna do? Also, no one has ever tried to do something cool like this with the EB ROM before, and people are happy now. That's what I like.

EarthBound Site
First time here, I'm a bit shocked to see that there are so few Earthbound Sites. I just got the game (And beat in 1 week.) And bashed myself for not getting it earlier! I'm gonna try an Earthbound Fic, but I doubt I will. If I do, I'll be sure to send it here first. Well, so long for now.
Zak-5

Welcome to the site. Good luck with your FanFic.

It just isn't enough
I think for us to convince Nintendo to release EarthBound 64 here we will need to get more signatures. When Nintendo releases a game they have to make sure they will turn a profit. We have to show them EarthBound 64 will be a profitable descision. I read somewhere the average game costs $1.5 million dollars. We have to show them EarthBound 64 will make at least that much (assuming EB64 has only a $1.5 million dollar budget. Therfore, saying the game will probably cost $50, with only 10,000 signatures we will show Nintendo their game is only going to make $500,000. I feel we need to get atleast 30,000 signatures which would even out at $1.5 million, giving Nintendo confidence in releasing EB64. I know this is a lot of signatures but it needs to be done. To this I say the petition is spread to more EB websites. The more available we can make the petition the more signatures we will get. Put on all the websites there is a link to on starmen.net. Another idea I had was to perhaps pool some money together and buy in ad in Nintendo Power. I have no idea how much this would cost but it certainly reach lots of people. Over 1 million people read NP and I think we could get atleast 30,000 of them.
Thanks for reading my thoughts and lets hope for EB64!
Brody

Maybe we WILL be able to get 30,000 signatures. We certaintly can't do it on our own of course. We'd need to get a lot of help from big name sites and magazines. The signatures we have now are mainly thanks to TendoBox.com. Also, if we were able to get an ad in Nintendo power for the petition, we might as well send them the petition, huh? :)

Music. Whine Whine
Looking back at all the spiffy hours sitting in front of the idiot box and playing EarthBound, I have to wonder...what were some of those guys thinking when they made the music? Oh, yeah, some of it is cool (Runaway Five, Summers), but come ON. Little beeps and wiggles aren't real music (you all know what I'm thinking about, I just can't remember the areas that they play those in...I KNOW you know). Anyway, I just wanted to whine and complain.

Cheap EB
Hey, this is my first mailbag-entry-thingy so I feel special... Okay, my question is: In the last mailbag, you (or someone, I assumed it was you) said that they got a copy of Earthbound AND Best Buy for only 5 dollars. I was just wondering if they got the whole Best Buy franchise in that deal, or just one Best Buy store. Either way, it's a very good deal...

Did I use that topic last week too? Probably. But I don't think I've ever seen a brand NEW game (no matter how bad) for five dollars. He certaintly was lucky.

Memorial Day
Hello. Today (the day I write
this) is Veteran's Day in the
United States.
I just wanted to say how much we underappreciate our veterans. Many people flock to gravestones of dead war veterans and decorate them. But what about the veterans who are still living? World War II veterans are dying at the rate of 1,000 a day. Soon they will all be gone. If your grandparents or parents are war veterans, ask them to tell you a story. I've done that before, and they are some of the best stories you'll ever hear.

And now for Something Completely Different:
