This week's mailbag topic:

Funny events in EarthBound

Hi-ho. This weeks mailbag dealt with the funny things people find in EarthBound. Some are the usual, and some you might have never noticed. Check it out!

EB Irony

There are some subtly ironic jokes in EarthBound I think only I get.

One such joke is just West of the Hint Man in Onett. A sign says "Proud and strong, the kids of Onett." and the man who is always right by it says you look helpless.

The other one in Onett is the sign West of the Drugstore. a sign says to treat the flowers in the garden nice, but to read it, you have to walk all over the flowers.

~Wizmo

Hmmm, never really noticed that. I always thought walking on top of stuff was a sign of respect. Any others?

Alley Clown

I don't know why, but I found the scene where Everdred was beaten in an alley, funny. I liked the part where he scared those two ladies by coming close to them. Heh. We will always remember you Everdred.

Yes beatings are funny.

That message is taken straight from EarthBound. I discovered it while messing around with the debug code. If you're interested in where it can be found, I'll tell you:

First, do like normal with the debug code. Then, read the billboard immediately east of Ness' house. Eventually, it'll get to a part where it'll get get to a part where it sticks in a loop. Turn off the code briefly (until it stops displaying "Ness got Null" or whatever it says), and then turn it back on. After a few more messages, it will begin this one.

Now, I've never seen this line while playing the game regularly. Because of the surrounding text, my guess is it's in Threed. Has anybody found this text elsewhere?

Hmmm, maybe the trivia masters can use this for the contest. Or maybe as a seperate contest itself.

Down with Capitalism

Hello from Spain, so I beg you my pardons for my bad english. I think that the better scene from the game is when a guy tell you that the end of capitalism is near.

Earthbound 2 YA!

All your pardons are begged and accounted for. Does Spain have good plumbing?

Fun with Symbols

What is the 4th PSI Symbol?
1:Alpha
2:Beta
3:Epsilon
4:??? (It looks sorta like c)
5:Omega

I think you're talking about gamma, like the deadly radiation.

Flakey Girl

After you beat up the zombies the busses go to thweed again AND this chick (who picks mushrooms by the trail to happy happy village) tells you "Now that the busses are running I can go visit my boyfriend in Thweed." When she gets there you see her and him and this other chick and she says something along the lines of "I wish I had stayed in Twoson." He oviously replaced her. I laughed for a long time then I felt bad. :) :(

Hey, but that guy was so DREAMY! He was all like, "DUDE! Where's my CAR?". I'm sorry you felt bad though. I did too. Actually that's not true.

Shack Story

The Demon Child article will forever be the funniest thing in all of EarthBound. Watching the Mad Ducks fall down comes close, but it's not near as funny as the Demon Child article.
~Raichu26~

If you have no idea what this letter is talking about, you must buy the house in Onett now!

ROFLOLOLROFLOLOL!!!

A really funny part was when the guy in the Chaos Theatre said "Don't get too close to me, I just farted!"

Yes, that's right. How could I forget one of the 20 or so e-mails about the fart gag?

Summer's Story

The Pasta de Summers is pretty funny, but extensively long.

It's about how the queen of Summers got really hungry one daqy and she wanted some really delicious pasta, so all the chefs in the land tried to make some good pasta, and when she tried the famous chef (whazzis name)'s pasta she said, "this' some pretty good pasta," the whole story is too long to put on here, but it's actually a humorous tale... That's how it ends.

Are you sure this is in EB, or did you just make it up? Because the topic's about funny things in EB? Or am I just the crazy one?

Save Hannibal

I think it's pretty funny that alot of the normal people that you see in the towns look quite a bit like Mr. T

Yes! But now you can see Mr. T in 800 Collect commercials! AND CARROT TOP TOO!
