This week's mailbag topic:
Mother 3 and GGN hopes.
Here are some Mailbag submissions over the past week and a half. Most of them are random comments, but the previous topic dealt with what people would hope Mother 3 would be on the Gamecube.
I know this is off topic, but I have to tell you guys this. On one of my first trips to Starmen.Net I found that they made an Earthbound(Mother2) soundtrack. Following the links I actually used my Father's Day money and bought it. My friends at work, one day, asked what I was listening to. After playing the Dusty Dunes Dessert song twice, they rolled their eyes and looked away. I smiled and went back to work. Thinking, "Fools, you just can't appreciate a great game, or the music." So I have to say thanks guys.

It's clear that they're just jealous that you have such a unique taste in music...well maybe not, but glad you were able to get the soundtrack.

No Flint! I HATE FLINT!!!! STUPID HICK!!!!!!!!!
....
Ness could be in it and Paula,Jeff, and Poo. And...um...stuff..yeah...
Maby a "Kill The Wussy Hick Mode" would be nice. And finaly...the original Mother Game hidden away! That would be cool.
P.S. what is this joke about reidmans pants? How was it started?
I don't know why everyone hates those mystery characters. I think they might be able to fill the plot holes from the previous games. So be nice. And the pants joke started from a song by Five Iron Frenzy. How it materialized exactly is just as crazy as the song.

I hope that Mother 3 for the GCN will have... really cheesy sound effects, so other system-peoples won't try to steal the game and will cry once Mother 3 will amass more money than Ness bashing his dad for money.
Of course! The logic in this is very clear and precise.

Hi EBounding! I just found your fantabulous site yesterday and was roaming around and found EB Seek + Tag. This sounds like a REALLY fun game. Only problem is, you need to tell people your IP before they join. This means I have to find people who want to play. I tried #starmen, #StoicClub, #ebvortex, and every other channel I could find mention of, and I posted in 2 places on the message board I wanted to play and would be waiting in #starmen (in fact as I write this I am), but all the chat rooms are COMPLETELY empty! Please help me find someone. -JJ
You must not be using the right chat server. Or you came in during a nasty netsplit, but that doesn't seem likely. If you're using mIRC look for an Ausnet server in the connection list. Or just type: /server us.austnet.org . If you ask around someone might also want to play the game, so one of you could serve.

Well, despite the cancellation of EB64, what we can hope for is FMV battle sequences. Although seemingly meaningless, it would increase the number of sales if they showed those FMVs at E3 2002. Also, it would be nice to have acsess to a sort of demo of Earthbound when you beat the game X number of times. Then, with the potential buyers wanting to know more about Earthbound, Itoi could re-release the game for GBA, put a few hidden secrets, a few hidden houses, and more people would get their hands on EB, therefore recriuting more people for Starmen.Net! See, everyone will be happy! Well, except for the people who can't afford a GBA. But, a good marketing scheme, nonetheless. EB Forever!

I just hope if there are FMVs, that the characters don't speak. Ness's voice in SSB is the most I can stand. Plus you wouldn't be able to name your characters. And that would be very wrong. But FMVs do sell.

I think you should create a petition for a Gameboy Advance Earthbound. From what I've heard, Nintendo is thinking about it, but this would seal the deal. Think about it- HANDHELD NESS!!! The glory of Earthbound in your palm! Perhaps they might even decide to improve the graphics, which would make for an ultimate game! That may even be understating it! The most heavenly game ever could be created thanks to you(!), but only if you try it...
A portable EarthBound sounds awesome, but, handheld Ness doesn't sound like it would sell. :/

You can make a Mach Pizza air freshener by printing the picture of the air freshener in the merchandise section and tying a string to it, add some scent by putting tomato sause on it! Put it where pizza scent is needed. ENJOY!
...next letter!

Size... With the transfer to CDs, they can create a much larger world, and new enemies! + I hope someone like Ness or Ninten comes back, but that could happen on any console...
Yes! Maybe there'll actually be people in every house you go into if there was a sequel

Hey....was Mother released in the UK? I'm considering buying a UK (PAL) version of the SNES and if EB is available in PAL form, in English then it'll give me more than ample reason to buy it. Thankyou.
-Cytin
If you're talking about the first Mother, that was only publically released in Japan only. I don't think EarthBound is available in PAL form though. I could be wrong however.

Well the game will be on CD then, so Nintendo might keep the graphics they wanted for EB64 and just touch'em up a bit and be able to put ALOT more gameplay into the game with the more memory the system will have. They'll probobly add new things to the game like mini games and all that bloody nonsense. OR Nintendo can be REALLY stupid on the idea of a new system like a err, kid in a candy store, yeah that's it, they'll go in and say "wow look what I can do, I can pee across the room, Mommy Wow! I'm a big kid now"<~~Disregard. We all know Nintendo wont know what it wants and they will make Mother 3 a guniea pig for their new attempt at a All graphics no gameplay system purely because thats what everybody else is doing.
Um, yes. Graphics, memory, and peeing across the room. It ALL makes sense to me!
