Fanfic Policy
For anyone interested in
writing FanFic
There are a few basic rules to be followed and statements to
be made before you send me any FanFic:
- The FanFic must be totally devoid of any content with
swearing, sexual content or sexual overtones, or anything
else I may consider unacceptable. I may also decide not
to post the FanFic at all, for various reasons.
- I ( reidman ) reserve the right to change the spelling or
grammar in any document sent to me. I may also change a
phrase if it doesn't make sense. I will not change any
content of stories unless I find it unacceptable (in
which case I will usually delete the document). I also
reserve the right not to change grammar or
spelling (see helpful hints below).
- The FanFic document must be in a single document. This
means that I will not, repeat, I will not
accept chapter stories. It takes up far too much of my
time to post chapters. If you have an unfinished chapter
story on my FanFic page, I request that you finish it as
soon as possible.
- Files must be in .txt , .doc , .html or any other text /
HTML format that can be viewed with Microsoft Works /
WordPad / Internet Explorer.
- Although it greatly varies, the length of time it takes
to post your FanFic will be from 1 day to 2 weeks. Please
be patient, because I happen to be one of the busiest
people on the face of this earth, giving me little time
to work on my webpage.
- Once the FanFic is ready, attach the document to an
e-mail and e-mail me.
Here are some helpful hints,
although not rules, that would be in your best interest to
consider:
Check your spelling /
grammar! This is the most important thing you can do
to make your FanFic enjoyable. All it usually takes is a
click on the 'Check Spelling' button. When I receive
FanFic totally littered with errors, I won't correct them
all, because I don't have the time. If I see that a
document has been spell checked, but the grammar is still
off, then I'll probably take some time to correct errors.
Choose an interesting
subject. Don't write about something that will put people
to sleep, but don't write something totally filled with
fighting, PSI spells, and Hit Points. EarthBound is great
game because of the simple humor involved, so it also
helps if you don't talk about blood splattering the walls
and people exploding into a million pieces. Besides, if
you talk about that, I'll probably delete the FanFic
anyway. People enjoy reading stories that are totally
original (see EBounding's FanFic, perfect examples), so
think of something that no one else has written about.
