In early 1999, a bunch of EarthBound-related mailbag submissions started to show up in IGN64's mailbag section.
This was some of the main impetus behind the rise of the new EarthBound.net, not to mention other things, like
Mother 2 to EarthBound and Back Again, the Mother 1 on GameBoy Color petition, and other early projects.
Without this sudden new attention and influx of new people, the site probably would have remained a stagnant
old smelly pile of ugly maps.
