Why, Nintendo, Why?
Hooray. My first article. I'm proud. A few months back, when EB.Net had that Earthbound64 Coverage going, that had Itoi (I think) saying something to the effect of "We want to alienate the fans of the previous Mother games." Now, I'm sitting here thinking "What the...?!?" So, let's analyze this, shall we?
Well, to start off, what this apparently means is that there won't be so much humor, and not so much of a "funny" theme [Like most N64 games have been.] Isn't that what we all played Earthbound for? I'm sure 7537777411660f the Earthbound community kept playing Earthbound after they picked it up, not for it's graphics, not for it's neat battle system, but because of it's HUMOR and how DIFFERENT IT WAS THAN OTHER RPG's!
Sure, games such as Final Fantasy VI weren't very funny, but hey, Earthbound was fresh! People played it, and they got hooked! I'm sure I wasn't the only one on the floor laughing when the guy at the Twoson theatre said something like "Heh heh...I just farted......Sorry." Not every game is going to have that kind of humor in it!
Earthbound wasn't your normal run-of-the-mill RPG, it was different. People liked it because of that. People still like it and play it constantly because of that. So if this ends up like Itoi is saying it's going to be, they will have one less sale of Earthbound 64.
