The Origin of Rainy Circle - by Fishsticks

The Origin of Rainy Circle

Rainy Circle is certainly an improbable sanctuary. The weather alone should prohibit it; after all, Winters is covered in snow, and yet somehow it is raining at the sanctuary. This location certainly has some power of its own; but where did this power come from?

From theories in my previous articles, the power of Giant Step and Lilliput Steps came from the Mani-Mani, which gained its powers from the Rainy Circle sanctuary. So, the Mani-Mani was not responsible for Rainy Circle's power; it was a result of said power.

On the other hand, Milky Well did not gain its power from the Mani-Mani, instead being a generations-old creation of the residents of Saturn Valley. This leads us to the possibility that Rainy Circle was created in a similar manner.

In fact, if we consider the facts, it seems very likely that the Mr. Saturns had some part in the sanctification of Rainy Circle. After all, by the end of the game, the Saturns end up helping Dr. Andonuts build the Phase Distorter. Now, there is obviously some relation between the Saturns and Dr. Andonuts, and Dr. Andonuts lives very near to Rainy Circle.

Now, for the power to transfer from Rainy Circle to the first two sanctuaries, it needed some sort of medium (in these cases, the Mani-Mani statue). So, the possibilities seem to be that the Saturns somehow brought some object from Milky Well which carried some of its power to what is now known as Rainy Circle, or the Saturns directly created Rainy Circle in the same manner they created Milky Well.

Although the Saturns may have had some sort of telekinesis to make up for their lack of hands, it seems that carrying any artifact for a long distance would be tiresome. Saturn Valley is out of the way, and Winters isn't easy to get to either. So, it seems more likely that a group of Saturns were staying with Dr. Andonuts for quite some time and, as they did with Milky Well, felt the need to set up a holy place. The result was another power location, which would later become a sanctuary for the Chosen Four.

An interesting thing to consider is that the power of Rainy Circle may have had something to do with Tessie. Even by EarthBound standards, Tessie is not a normal creature. However, we are assuming that Rainy Circle has considerable power, and the lake is located in the general vicinity of Rainy Circle, so it's possible that some creature exposed to this power from birth or hatching could possibly grow into what is now known as Tessie.
