The Big Ham

There are thousands and thousands of games out in the world. Some are funny (EarthBound), some are boring (Tetris), some are just plain stupid (Where's Waldo for SNES). It's really hard to pick a good game. Well, anyways...one day I was walking through Blockbuster looking at all the games. There were tons and tons of them. Until I saw it, the game of the century. The clouds parted and the sun shined on it. It was EarthBound. Okay, okay...it didn't happen like that. I got it just because it had a big box and it had this big robot guy on the front but that's not the point. It stood out from all of the other games.

When I got home I popped the case open, took the game out, and put it in my SNES. At that exact moment I hit the power switch and the game turned on. Then I saw darkness...not darkness on the screen, darkness from the power going out in the house. After I noticed what happened I stood up and threw a fit. The power was out for over 3 hours. When the lights came back on I saw in big letters on the screen which spelt, "EarthBound". "Boy, oh boy! I'm going to have this game all to myself" I thought as I picked up the controller. Then I heard it, big thuds heading right toward my room. It was my coisen. "Oh no," I thought, "If I don't let him play first he'll throw a fit and tell my mother!"

As he entered my room he smiled at me, took the controller from my hand, and said, "Let me play!" I just stood there and said nothing. He staired at the screen for hours trying to figure out how the game worked as he played. Then he got to one of the bosses and lost. He stood up, turned red, and kicked my SNES breaking both it and EarthBound. A week later I recieved the bill from Blockbuster stating that if I did not pay it I'd be put in jail, so I did. I was charged over $70.00 for a 30 dollar game. After that incident I didn't rent from Blockbuster ever again.

One day I was going to K-mart and I passed funcoland. I stopped, got off my bike, and went inside and there it was. EarthBound for $20.00. It was just sitting there right in front of me. I reached out to get it but this little kid got in front of me and swipped it and said, "Mommy! Mommy! Can I get this robot game?" and his mother aid, "Sure!" At that moment I was so angry I was shaking. "I'm never going to get to play EarthBound!" I thought.

Month after month I still didn't play EarthBound until one day it was just handed to me. It was my Birthday and my mother had been watching me trying to get the game day after day. That very day I played EarthBound and I was amazed. It was one of the best games I've ever played. You see? The moral of this story is, "If you do not succeed, just quit and it will be handed to you!"
