The Dragon of Darkness Awakens - by kenisu3000

In Mother 3, there's a huge mess revolving around the "Dragon of Darkness", but even at the end of the game, we never get to see him/her/it. Well, we do get to see a huge black "breathing" mass which MIGHT be the Dragon (in the shot with all those tornadoes, I believe), but that's unclear.
Well, one evening about two weeks or so ago, I discovered the rare Evanescence song "Before The Dawn", and when I heard it, I felt it would fit perfectly with the destruction of the world at the end of Mother 3. And then, this breathtaking image just flew into my mind. I saw the Dragon (I had no clear idea what I wanted it to look like, albeit I knew I wanted it slender and very nocturnal-looking) standing atop the ending world, staring at a crescent moon as though it could reach out and grasp it.
So, I cooked up a preliminary sketch for the Dragon of Darkness (it was a sidelong view... I might submit that if sitegoers wish to see that as well), and got to work on a full-page mind-to-paper translation of this fantastic image. I used so much permanent marker for the black expanse of space, however, that the drawing still gives off fumes to this day and gets anyone nearby high as a cloud :)

So I have to dance all around these nonexistent names in places where, by all means in real life, the full name would be used. In this case, the title page of George's diary. I wanted the diary to be faded and blotched to begin with (to give it that "antique" look), so I used that to my advantage and ran my thumb over a smudge of graphite, covering the area where George's surname would be. I love these little nuance conveniences. As for the password, it was only recently, when I went to draw over the sketch, that I finally realized the connection between the two parts of the code: _Where is God's Tail?_ is the prompt, and _Lost on the ship that sails the heavens_ is the answer. The second part isn't clarifying _what_ God's Tail is (my old translations read "The item left behind" instead of "Lost"), it's clarifying _where_ the Tail is. ...Though I still wonder what I was thinking when I chose _lost_ as a "translation" of _wasuremono_. In that case, _left behind_ would still have worked.	6/15/09
kenisu3000	Prologue - Page 11: In the Guest Room Lies...	kenisu - #11 It wasn't until I gave James the line "Why did you bring the boy?" that I realized I must have unconsciously designed him after James "Jimmy" Stewart (the line reminded me of the movie "Shenandoah", where Stewart refers to his own son as "the boy", when speaking to his wife's grave after a huge mess of tragedy happens to the family - he names off everyone in his family that was killed, and since his son was sent into the Civil War against his will, Stewart's character had not heard anything of him for years, and so he adds to his wife "...and probably the boy..."	10/22/06

kenisu3000	Chapter 1 - Page 26: When Lamps Attack	kenisu - #26 Sorry about how pale the colors are and everything... up until now, I've been using the superb scanners at my university, but now that I'm home from college, my so-so standard scanner will have to do. My winks to the 80's continue. Basically, I'm giving Ninten the sort of fandom that I was into back then (although I was 6 in 1988, whereas Ninten is supposed to be 12, so I have to take each medium's target age into account), and Garfield and ALF were just two of the things I remember the 80's for. As for the San Francisco Giants, I've never been much of a sports fans at all, but I'm really milking the Encyclopedia MOTHER for all it's worth to bring out Ninten's personality.	12/18/06
