Chapter 1 - Page 31: A Gasp of Relief? - by kenisu3000

...My scanner is beginning to severely weird me out, what with how fitful it gets.
Anyway. what shall I say here? Let's start with the first panel - I like to call it the "SMAAAASH!!" panel (get it? Splash panel? Smash panel? Heh heh, heh... aww, never mind). I tried my best to recreate the "SMAAAASH!!" logo directly from the game, but holy crap, I never imagined it would be so difficuly, what with the way the angle curves back what with each progressive letter. I'm not so sure how well it works anyway, because I wanted at least two letter "A"s completely out in the open, and not blocked by Ninten's fat head. Instead I wound up with a couple of them half-hidden. Drat. Oh well, everything else turned out pretty much *exactly* how I had imagined it, and THAT, friends, is a good day! Except Ninten seems to resemble Charlie Brown here, what with the angle I chose for his nose - but MOTHER has a lot of Peanuts references anyway.
I also decided to establish Ninten's asthma here. Also, it looks like Minnie and Mimmie are still playing butt tag :) How long WAS that staircase anyway?!

The answer is that the ax was heavy, and so it was slowing them down in their flight (hey, don't tell me YOU haven't lost your head and made bad decisions in time of panic). The panel where Maria helps George back up was difficult for me to illustrate (character-to-character actions always are for me), so yeah, there was a massive amount of erasing and re-drawing there. And try to avoid the irony of the fact that in the very next panel, even though George needed help up, he's already back in the lead. If you haven't figured out by now, the best way to experience my artwork is to take in as much detail as you can. In this case, don't just glance at the last panel, LOOK at it (hint: the expression on Maria's face).	10/1/06

kenisu3000	Chapter 1 - Page 35: Shut Up	kenisu - #35 I know plenty of households where the children are put in time out if they use naughty language like "shut up". I looked at this after I finished it and I realized that Minnie's keeping her composure quite well through all this craziness. Whatever. All I know is, I had been chomping at the bit to get out of Ninten's room, and now I'm already chomping at the bit to get out of Mimmie's Room! I hereby dub this room Purple Hell.	5/5/07
kenisu3000	Chapter 1 - Page 59: Dumb Animal He Ain't	kenisu - #59 I apologize for making Mick a smoker. Since he stands on two legs, I kept seeing this image in my head of him leaning casually against his doghouse, and from there it's easy to see how a cigarette found its way into his mouth. Of course, this begs the question: Where, when and how did he pick up this habit? Peer pressure from the local crows?	6/15/09
